i just watched the movie Mask (not to be confused with THE Mask, which i hated) I have not seen Mask since i was a kid. i thought it was interesting, because usually when i see regular movies that i have not seen since childhood in my adulthood, i realize that most of it completely went over my head as a kid, and i see the movie in a whole new way, having years of experience and wisdom i did not have as a child... but even as a child, i completely understood Mask. there were some details i forgot, but as a kid i understood the challenges of every character in the movie.

i'm sometimes unforgiving of mistakes i made as a child, because i feel like i should have known what i was getting myself into. but it is clearer to me now that there are some complicated things i understand, that the average person can't even understand has any depth. but the things that most people find simple or obvious, are my biggest challenges.

anyway. peace

Aw, Mask was such a sad movie. I saw it on TV once with my mom years ago and I cried so hard at the end.

that is one of my favorite movies. The part where Dozer tells Rocky how proud he is- tears. Every. Time.

yeah, that part got me a bit choked up to. up until that point, i didn't even know why he didn't talk. i especially loved how the motorcycle gang was his family. all those tough guys, being so loving. i have experienced similar things with "tough guys" being some of the most accepting people when it comes to my being trans.
i was also inspired by the way rocky was one of the strongest, kindest people ever (at least in the movie) and it was a good reminder that the challenges we all face, help make us who we are

Mask was such a good movie. And it has Cher...What's not to like?!

And as for THE Mask...It was a little cheesy. And it scared the crap out of my brother when he was a kid, lol, I used to torment him with this mask that we had. *sighs* Memories.

i was 14 or 15 when The Mask came out. i saw it in the theatres and hated it. i even hated jim carey for many years after because i hated so many of the movies he did around that time. but now i am actually a jim carey fan.

and yeah, mask is a great movie and cher is great in it. it also has a few other actors i love, like laura dern (who i always liked, but who totally won me when she played the lesbian that got ellen to come out on the coming out episode of ellen) and the guy that played cher's main boyfriend in mask is a cool guy too.
