That's very interesting. I wasn't aware of the term or that was an issue in the community but it makes sense. Thanks for posting that.

i didn't know it was an issue either, but i have often gotten frustrated with my friends who feel it is unfair that they are called crackers and can't use the n word. i wanna smack them... like, seriously? you are so offended by the word cracker that you feel injustice toward you and white people as a whole??
so yeah, it was interesting to read this.

Yeah, part of me understands the desire to use the n word (meaning a black person's desire to, for the racial connection, etc) but the other part of me thinks: if you're upset about racism/sexism/homo-whathaveyou then why are YOU using a term that defines you as such? Say dude, say bro, get over yourselves! Start using inclusive rather than exclusive terms. One love and all that, sheesh :)

to a degree, i understand taking a negative word and using it to empower yourself, like lesbians using the word dyke to describe themselves, however, the N word is different than dyke and even by black people it can often be used in hate... like recently with perez hilton calling will.i.am a faggot. that's just not cool. you can call yourself a faggot, but to use it in hate makes you pretty much as wrong as anyone else. so yeah, i agree, and it is complicated
