Syd Barrett- Dark Globe (the original singer of The Pink Floyd who went crazy and spent most of his adult life living with his mother in the country until he died a few years ago. He inspired many Pink Floyd songs including Shine On You Crazy Diamond, from this list. I am more of a fan of his solo stuff, like this song, than his work with Pink Floyd. I am a Roger Waters person in that regard, but Syd was amazing and his story breaks my heart, especially since one of my biggest fears is ending up like he did)

Jimi Hendrix- Manic Depression

I LOVE Peter Gabriel's dark song "Digging in the Dirt." I remembered Peter Gabriel talking about how the inspiration for the song came about because he was reading books about murderers, and he was also inspired by his own personal murderous feelings.
