It's Memorial Day in the States, a time to remember those who have died while in military service. Who would you like to remember today?
My maternal grandfather, who was my hero as a child was a prisoner of war missing in action in WW2. i don't know what he went through there, but i can only imagine it was terrible.
This picture is for him. I painted it last summer when i had my nervous breakdown and thought i was being visited by my grandfather in the form of a ghost. He has always come to me through my dreams and last year i felt his presence and that he was trying to tell me something.
This is the photo in the painting. It was taken when i was 12 years old, less than a year before he died. He was trying to help me out of a very bad situation i had gotten into and he was the only adult i ever trusted.
I also want to dedicate this memorial day post to all the soldiers in all the wars, including the ones here on the streets who are suffering from PTSD. Stay strong.
